Learn about the Birds of Morgan-Monroe State Forest

Morgan-Monroe State Forest, Forest Training Center

6220 Forest Road, Martinsville, IN 46151.

The program will begin with a short indoor session giving an overview Morgan-Monroe State Forest and the many habitats for birds. Then the participants will head out into the forest to different habitats and look and listen for spring migratory birds.

 

Participants should come prepared to be in the field with leather work boots, long pants, and long sleeved shirts.  Please bring binoculars.  Bird identification apps will also be useful. Young Forests for Sustainable Habitats

Review of characteristics of young forest habitats and their benefits for wildlife and why these communities are important, then a visit to young forest areas on the forest. Presenter: Lenny Farlee, Purdue Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Center. This event will be limited to a maximum of 30 participants and RSVP is requested.
